ABOUT RAUZ. EVIDENCE TO INTELLIGENCE.
RAUZ Environmental & Engineering Monitoring Intelligence
RAUZ is the environmental and engineering monitoring intelligence platform of Rauz Caucasus LLC in Tbilisi, connecting ground, infrastructure, environmental and agricultural observations with analytics and human review.
About RAUZ
An environmental and engineering intelligence layer between observation and action.
RAUZ is the market-facing environmental intelligence and monitoring platform of Rauz Caucasus LLC, based in Tbilisi, Georgia. It is built around a practical idea: monitoring becomes more useful when measurements from ground, infrastructure, environmental and natural systems can be checked, connected and interpreted before a decision is made.
RAUZ is an Environmental & Engineering Monitoring Intelligence Platform. It works above the measurement layer, using monitoring data, survey observations, environmental records, remote sensing, analytics and human technical review to help explain what the evidence means and what should be examined next.
Rauz Caucasus LLC
RAUZ is operated by Rauz Caucasus LLC in Tbilisi, Georgia. The company base is in the Caucasus; the monitoring-intelligence platform is structured for international technical delivery.
Above measurement
RAUZ does not need to replace a client’s instruments, logger, survey team or monitoring contractor simply to add a stronger analytical and interpretation layer.
Before decision
The aim is to make monitoring evidence easier to trust, compare, explain and use in engineering, environmental and operational review.
Above measurement. Before decision.
Why RAUZ Exists
Projects can collect more data than teams can comfortably interpret.
Modern monitoring programmes may involve field instruments, survey observations, environmental sensors, weather data, contractor reports, dashboards and satellite-derived ground motion. More measurements do not automatically create a clearer technical picture. RAUZ focuses on the part between data collection and consequential action.
Data arrives from different systems.
Time series, survey files, environmental observations, reports and spatial data often use different structures, references and review cycles.
Not every anomaly is physical movement.
Baselines, references, gaps, resets, maintenance events, metadata and instrument behaviour can change what a trend actually means.
A reading is not a mechanism.
Geology, groundwater, climate, construction sequence, asset geometry and operating conditions may be needed before a change can be interpreted responsibly.
An alert is not the final conclusion.
Thresholds and automated alarms can identify events that need review. Engineering or environmental significance still depends on the underlying evidence and context.
Our Role
Keep the field system that works. Add intelligence where it is missing.
RAUZ is deliberately vendor-neutral. A project can continue using its existing instrumentation supplier, logger, survey team, field contractor or client platform while RAUZ is engaged for data QA/QC, cross-source analytics, remote sensing, diagnostics, monitoring strategy, independent review or reporting.
Ground, structures, water, weather, soil, agriculture, survey and remote sensing.
Organise source, time, units, location, baseline, metadata and project records.
Check quality, review trends, compare evidence and interpret physical context.
Communicate findings, uncertainty, priorities and the next technical questions.
- Vendor-neutral monitoring data integration
- Monitoring data QA/QC and diagnostics
- Cross-source and rate-of-change analysis
- InSAR and ground-monitoring interpretation
- Independent technical review
- AI-assisted analysis with human review
- Automated monitoring reporting
- Decision support with explicit limitations
Monitoring Domains
Different physical systems. One evidence discipline.
RAUZ is broader than a conventional geotechnical monitoring consultancy, but narrower than a general environmental consultancy. The common boundary is monitoring-driven intelligence: observe a changing physical system, verify the evidence, interpret it in context and define the next action.
Movement, groundwater and asset response
Excavations, tunnels, rail, roads, bridges, buildings, slopes, dams, mines and other assets where deformation, pressure, vibration or structural response matters.
- Inclinometers and extensometers
- Piezometers and groundwater
- Settlement, GNSS and survey
- Tilt, cracks, vibration and structural response
Water, weather, soil, air and site conditions
Environmental observations can be reviewed together when construction, natural processes, asset operation or regulatory questions depend on changing conditions.
- Groundwater and surface water
- Rainfall and weather
- Noise, vibration and air
- Soil and site-specific environmental variables
Soil, water and growing-environment intelligence
Soil moisture, temperature, rainfall, humidity, irrigation-related observations and microclimate data can be structured as a monitoring problem rather than treated as isolated sensor streams.
- Soil moisture and temperature
- Weather and microclimate
- Irrigation-related observations
- Field-scale trend and spatial review
RAUZ Platform
Monitoring Intelligence is the core. Specialist capabilities support the review.
The platform is organised around the questions clients need answered rather than around one sensor brand or one project type.
Data Integration
Structure monitoring, survey, environmental and remote-sensing data so related evidence can be reviewed together.
Data QA/QC
Check baselines, continuity, timestamps, units, references, anomalies and traceability before interpretation.
Monitoring Analytics
Review trends, rates, change points, spatial patterns and relationships between complementary datasets.
InSAR Intelligence
Add wider-area ground-motion evidence where satellite geometry, coverage, temporal resolution and data quality are suitable.
Alert Intelligence
Review the evidence behind alarms and threshold events without treating an automated notification as a complete engineering conclusion.
AI-Assisted Review
Use AI for screening, retrieval, comparison and draft preparation while material technical conclusions remain human-reviewed.
Automated Reporting
Automate repetitive data preparation, charting and report assembly while preserving traceability and technical sign-off.
Independent Review
Provide a separate technical view of plans, trigger logic, contractor reports, anomalies and interpretation when a second layer is needed.
How We Work
Start with the question, then ask what evidence can actually answer it.
RAUZ’s engineering approach is intentionally evidence-led. It separates observed facts from interpretation and keeps limitations visible, especially where project decisions depend on uncertain or incomplete data.
Define what needs to be understood.
Movement, groundwater, environmental change, trigger status, instrument reliability, spatial pattern or another defined monitoring question comes before the software workflow.
Do not invent the site conditions.
Geology, stratigraphy, groundwater, climate, construction sequence, trigger criteria and asset behaviour should come from authoritative project or public information.
Separate fact, interpretation and limitation.
A useful output should show what was measured, what was checked, what the evidence may support, what remains uncertain and what should be reviewed next.
Tbilisi Base. Global Delivery.
The company is based in Georgia. The platform is not limited by that geography.
Rauz Caucasus LLC operates RAUZ from Tbilisi. The delivery model is remote-first for work that can be performed through project records, monitoring data, remote sensing, analytics, technical review and reporting. Where field work is required, qualified client teams or local specialists can remain responsible for installation, surveying, readings, maintenance and jurisdiction-specific regulated work.
Tbilisi, Georgia
The operating base gives RAUZ a physical company identity in the Caucasus while supporting a wider international monitoring-intelligence model.
Central technical review
Data diagnostics, analytics, InSAR interpretation, reporting, monitoring strategy and independent review can often be delivered without duplicating the project’s field organisation.
Field capability stays close to site
Local contractors, surveyors, laboratories, drilling teams, instrumentation specialists and appointed professionals can be integrated into the delivery model where their role is required.
Technical Origin
RAUZ is shaped by geotechnical research, field monitoring and engineering review.
RAUZ was founded by Dr. Xuefeng (Jason) Nong. The official RAUZ founder profile records a Doctor of Engineering from the University of Tokyo and professional experience spanning geotechnical and environmental engineering, instrumentation and monitoring, infrastructure projects and technical development.
Ground, water and material behaviour
Published research associated with the founder includes soft-rock weathering, soil-water characteristic curves, soil shrinkage and soil-root mechanical behaviour.
Instrumentation and monitoring
The founder’s earlier professional record includes infrastructure and monitoring environments in Singapore and post-earthquake engineering experience in China and Japan.
Move monitoring value toward interpretation
RAUZ’s technical direction focuses on the layer that can remain useful across sensor brands and countries: data quality, interpretation, independent review, remote sensing and repeatable engineering workflows.
Experience boundary: Earlier projects and research described on the founder profile are the founder’s professional or academic experience. They are not presented as RAUZ projects unless a separate RAUZ engagement is explicitly identified.
Quality & Governance
Monitoring conclusions should be traceable back to the evidence.
RAUZ treats quality as a chain rather than a final report check. The chain begins with the monitoring question and continues through instrument identity, metadata, baseline, acquisition, validation, interpretation, review and the record of what was accepted, questioned or escalated.
- Source and data ownership identified
- Instrument ID, location, units and reference defined
- Baseline and baseline period made explicit
- Completeness and continuity checked
- Anomalies and corrections kept traceable
- Trigger criteria tied to the governing project source
- AI-assisted output remains reviewable
- Technical limitations are stated, not hidden
- Human reviewer is identifiable where appropriate
- Project-specific responsibility is defined by appointment
RAUZ does not treat public website content as a project-specific professional opinion. Any project scope, statutory role, certification, emergency-response duty or Engineer-of-Record responsibility must be defined separately through the applicable appointment and jurisdictional requirements.
Official Industry Context
Monitoring intelligence sits inside a much larger observation ecosystem.
RAUZ does not claim to own every measurement layer. Official public programmes show why monitoring increasingly depends on combining local observations, environmental context, remote sensing and repeatable data review.
WMO — Observe and monitor
The World Meteorological Organization describes land- and space-based observations as inputs for weather analysis, forecasting, climate monitoring and wider environmental activities.
Official WMO source ↗Copernicus — European Ground Motion Service
The European Ground Motion Service provides InSAR-derived ground-motion products for users including civil engineers, asset owners, planners, geoscience organisations and public authorities.
Official Copernicus source ↗USGS — Landslide monitoring
USGS describes near-real-time landslide monitoring that combines rainfall, soil and hydrologic instrumentation with central data collection and analysis to study changing hillslope conditions.
Official USGS source ↗USDA NRCS — Soil Climate Analysis Network
NRCS’s SCAN programme combines soil moisture at several depths with temperature, humidity, solar radiation, wind, precipitation and pressure for natural-resource assessment and conservation activities.
Official USDA NRCS source ↗RAUZ’s place in this landscape: the platform focuses on the interpretation layer—connecting suitable observations, checking data quality, comparing independent evidence and communicating what the evidence can and cannot support.
